Question
Thank you for your question. You must be in so much emotional pain to believe you can never stop using drugs. I'm afraid the answer is not what you're hoping for. Believe me, if there were drugs you could take without the consequences, there wouldn't be many recovering addicts. Trust those of us who have gone before you. We have tried everything and found that there is no drug an addict can take without severe consequences. The problem is not with the substance. There are substances that when used in moderation that are not as harmful. Just like caffeine and sugar, they are not good for you but not as harmful when used in moderation. However, addicts by their very nature cannot take a substance in moderation. I am assuming you are an addict because someone who isn't an addict wouldn't be looking for a substance they could take because they believed they could never give up drugs.
There is treatment for addiction that really works. You can learn to live your life without substances. You don't have to live life constantly looking for the next high and miserable when you're not under the influence of some substance. I've been where you are and I know my life is much better in recovery. Please give treatment a chance. And if you've already tried treatment, try again. Try staying in a longer treatment program because the longer the treatment, the better the outcome. It may take more than a 30 day treatment program to undo years of addiction. I hope you find the peace I've found.
