More about Oxford House - Waters Edge

A model of peer run recovery houses, in New Jersey there are currently Oxford houses for men and for women, and women with children. Normally serves as a transitional home that provide an opportunity for every recovering individual to learn a clean and sober way of life.

As a non-profit organization, residents are only expected to contribute to their fair share of the running of the house expenses, and since there are generally between 8-15 people per home, these monthly payments are low enough to be affordable to anyone who can work while in recovery. Residents must only abide by the rules of the home, but if they ever use drugs or alcohol while a resident, they are immediately evicted. Residents may stay as long as they need to, although most stay about 1 year.

Admissions Process

Oxford House is self-run, peer-supported recovery housing for men. There is no clinical staff on site and no walk-in admission — applicants are accepted by a vote of the current residents after an interview. Interviews are held Mon 6:00pm. Call the house on (848) 319-4465 to ask about openings and arrange an interview. The chapter contact for this house is Casey — (609) 548-7780. Please phone before visiting. Current vacancies are published by Oxford House at oxfordvacancies.com.

I was in the hospital for 51 days and during that time the people in the house stole over $1200 of my belongings. I have text messages from a client in the house who was stealing my things as well as a house client posted a picture on FB talking about faith and sobriety while some of my personal belongings where behind him on the wall/desk. I took a snap shot too. I contacted Oxford spoke to 2 of the supervisors that cover that area they said they cannot do anything because the house is self managed. The home owner had a home inspection but before it i sent him pictures and a video of all the things prior in my room that I sent to my daughter showing her how I set up my room. I sent it to the home owner he sent it to the Oxford home inspectors. The day after I called and the home owner said they seen pictures on the wall but could not verify it was mine. They said my pictures and videos were not clear enough. There a terrible organization so not go here plus 3 of the 5 clients in the house failed drug tests for multiple Drugs. Warning thieves and no recovery.
