Do not go to Seafield if you’re gay or you’re struggling with a meth addiction. They claim to be a gay friendly facility but their one “LGBTQ” group is a joke, and it’s an environment that is so unfriendly to the community that it is hard for you to share, especially when it comes to a meth addiction that is so prevalent in the gay community and so tied into sex. They have absolutely 0 focus on meth, no groups focusing on meth and issues that arise from meth, (psych and issues sex related) and when it comes to you being discharged they will likely discriminate against you because of the drug your addicted to, and the issues that arise from it. If psych issues directly related to your drug use was part of your story, even if you have zero psych diagnosis, they will deny you the opportunity to further your road to recovery by turning you down for sober housing! Again, If you’re gay, especially gay and addicted to meth, do not go here, they know nothing about the community, they do not provide a gay friendly environment and they have absolutely no understanding of meth and issues that arise as a result of meth use…SHAME ON YOU SEAFIELD…. Call the Addictions Institute at Mount Sinai! They are gay friendly and provide an excellent outpatient program for meth addiction and will be able to provide guidance if you need an inpatient program that will support recovery from your drug of choice and be a safe space to discuss your lifestyle.
